Yaşamakta olan en büyük kara etoburudur (boz ayı daha büyüktür ama bir karnivor değil omnivor sayılmaktadır) ve bulunduğu ortamdaki süper yırtıcıdır. Yaşadığı çevreye çok iyi uyum sağlamıştır.
